Children’s campaign on “Protect Children from violence” officially launched

Child Friendly Dimapur, AIDA initiated a children’s campaign on the theme, “Protect children from violence”, officially launched by Smti. Mhalo Humtsoe, Additional Deputy Commissioner, NCS on 1st December 2022 at AIDA, training hall in the presence of Child Development Protection Officer, Gaon Bura Union Executive members, other dignitaries, representatives from different NGOs, Child Rights Facilitators and Child Rights Club members from different localities. The main objective of the campaign was to bring together different Child Rights Clubs in Dimapur and Chumukedima on a single platform and create awareness to protect children from all forms of violence i.e. physical, psychological, sexual and neglect. Rev. Fr. Roy George, Executive Director, AIDA while delivering the word of welcome enlightened the participants on the initiative of AIDA in 4 different North Eastern states (Arunachal, Nagaland, Manipur and Assam). He expressed the joy of getting the support from the District Administrators, Municipal Council, different Departments, Organizations, Institutions and communities since the inception of Child Friendly Dimapur, AIDA and has appeal for their continuous support towards making Dimapur and Chumukedima, child friendly cities.. Smti. Mhalo Humtsoe, Additional Deputy Commissioner, NCS, the honorable chief guest of the program after unveiling the campaign posture on the theme “Protect Children from Violence”, appreciated AIDA for initiating Child Friendly Dimapur, a model based on Child Friendly Cities Initiative adopted by UNICEF (United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund). She lamented on the forms of violence (physical and psychological abuse) that a children undergoes and the facilities that are required inorder to make the cities child friendly. In line with CFD activities in view to make the cities child friendly, she urged the Civil Society Organizations, Duty Bearers and leaders from the community not to exclude away Children with Special Needs. In her concluding note, she also exhorted the Gaon Buras and community leaders from different localities if they can identify and affirm any communities or localities in Dimapur and Chumukedima where children feels safe and secure. While, she too challenged the children to raise their voice and let their voices be heard, get access to their rights yet not defaming or disrespecting their elders Earlier, Ms.Garrol Lotha, Project Coordinator, Child Friendly Dimapur,AIDA briefed on the  concept and objective of the campaign i.e. to sensitize people towards protecting children from all forms of violence. The program was graced by reading from different Holy books and special performances presented by Child Rights Club members from different localities.
