AIDA-Child Friendly Dimapur organized its 3rd Annual Convention on 12th April 2025 at Don Bosco Hr.sec.School, Auditorium hall, Dimapur, Nagaland. The objective was to celebrate the progress of AIDA-Child Friendly Dimapur’s initiatives since September 2021, build network and collaborations among the groups in the city, enhance rapport between the children, adults and the city leadership towards making Dimapur a Child Friendly City. The event was focused on the theme, “Voice for every child: Inclusion, Protection and Participation”. Around, 550 Child Rights Club members, Child Rights Facilitators, different departments, Civil Society Organizations, youth and community leaders from different localities attended the Annual convention.
Col. Kartik Thapa, VSM, Commandant, of 22nd Assam Rifles, Medziphema, while addressing the gathering as the Special Guest for the event, shared on the necessity of the children. He shared his appreciation towards AIDA-Child Friendly Dimapur’s initiative towards raising awareness and capacitating the rights of the children through different strategic approaches. Its initiative was not only impactful but transformative as it had made a repel effect and strengthened the communities and created a sense of responsibility and care for the youngest and the brightest citizen. In the region having the greatest of hidden children is the children, the importance of AIDA-Child Friendly Dimapur mission cannot be overstated in creating safe spaces, nurturing dreams and empower voices that might otherwise be lost. He has also regarded on the impact created on the stakeholders through the initiatives and appreciated the inclusive approach used towards creating awareness on the rights of the children. Not leaving any issues behind like child labour, exploitation, road safety or any form of exploitation. Every child regardless of their background can prosper and excel. He encouraged everyone to continue fostering environment where every child regardless of their background can thrive, learn and read.
Shri. Nikito Zhimomi, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), Chumoukedima, graced the event as Guest of Honour. He spoke on the pivotal role of the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), outlining its facilities and assuring that the Unit is committed to providing timely support and assistance to children in need.
In his address, he emphasized that child protection is a collective responsibility. Citing rising cases of abuse among children, he urged every individual to act as a safeguard for children's rights. He stressed that parents must build nurturing relationships and be proactive in building their children’s confidence and safety. He added that families must stay observant and be emotionally available, often serving as the last line of support for vulnerable children.
To school administrators, he posed a crucial question: "Are children truly safe within our schools?" He encouraged them to ensure emotional and physical safety, use their expertise wisely, and speak up when needed. He called on the government to act with transparency, identify root causes of abuse, and enforce laws without bias. Addressing media, parents, and community leaders, he urged them to use their voices to empower children and guide them toward safer choices. “We have systems in place,” he said. “It’s our duty to uphold and strengthen them for the well-being of every child.
Mrs. Neisavinuo Mor, Headmistress of Footprint Academy, emphasized the importance of collectively creating safe spaces for children. Referencing findings from the Child-Led Survey initiated by Child Friendly Dimapur, she highlighted the challenges children face at home, in schools, and within their communities. She encouraged children to speak up and confront the uncomfortable truth that many do not always feel safe in spaces meant to protect them. She affirmed that children are the heart of every community, and ensuring their safety is a shared responsibility.
Earlier, Rev.Fr.Dr.Roy George, Executive Director, AIDA while delivering his word of welcome to the gathering furthermore felicitated the dignitaries on the event. He also shared on the integral development initiative of ANMA Integrated Development Association in 4 different North Eastern States. While addressing the participants, he also acknowledged and thanked all the individuals for continuously supporting Child Friendly Dimapur since inception. In his address he added that every child has the right to grow up in a safe, enabling and supportive environment to grow in full potentiality.

The program was compered by Master Jowan and Ms.Arombeni (Child Rights Club members), special performances were presented by Child Rights Club members Evershine School, Angel’s Home Rehabilitation Center, Child Rights Club members, Sangtamtilla and a dance by Mr.Kumtsu Kips, Child Rights Club member, Chumoukedima Ward 5. A speech on “My life as a Child Rights Facilitator was delivered by Mr.Rhonbemo Lotha, Child Rights Facilitator. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms.Mechietonü Agnes, Civil Society Organization.
