AIDA is a non-government, non-profit voluntary association. Founded on 8 December 1985, the society was registered in 1986 under the Societies Registration Act 1860, as amended by Registration of Societies (Nagaland First Amendment Act) 1969, AIDA is registered with the Home Ministry of India under the Foreign Contributions Regulatory Act, and under Section 12A and Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
Key Issues We Focus On
The rich geographic, socio-cultural, and ethnic diversity of the Northeastern states presents numerous development needs and challenges and demands from us creativity and sensitivity to specific contexts. At the same time, AIDA recognizes that it is a small player in the vast arena of government and non-government agencies engaged in development.
The four states where AIDA work in present states is a diversity of regions, some of which are among the poorest in the country. Keeping these in mind and considering the capacities and reach of the SDB presences in these regions, we focus on the following issues/sectors/areas for concerted action.
Thematic areas of intervention
The following thematic areas have been identified for concerted action to achieve synergy and impact:
Quality education of rural children – empowerment of individuals, organizations and communities, digitalization of education, education of children from marginalized communities
Livelihood – enhanced and sustained life security, Agro-based and animal husbandry livelihood promotion, non-formation and vocational trainings, skill education
Water, health, nutrition & sanitation – access to healthy food, safe drinking water and basic health care facilities, promotion, and construction of Rainwater Harvesting Tanks
Woman empowerment and child right – responsibility for own growth, development, and freedom
