Programmes

  1. Formation of Child Rights Club, sessions, training by the staff in the communities and schools to form and stabilize Child
    Rights Club Child Friendly Dimapur staff and Child Rights Facilitators visit and conduct sessions in the communities and Institutions (both Government and Private schools) to form and stabilize Child Rights Club. The objective of forming the club is to bring about changes for themselves, their peers and for the communities in terms of rights – survival, safety and protection, development and participation – in the city/community.
  2. One day training for Child Rights Club leaders
    One-day training programme for Child Rights Club leaders is conducted 4 times in a year specifically to enhance their awareness on the rights and train them on team building, communication skills, and leadership skills of the leaders.
  3. Training for the Child Rights Facilitators/ Mentoring visits by the CRF
    3 days training program for the Child Rights Facilitator is conducted to motivate and train the facilitators, to enhance their skills to facilitate the Child Rights Club members in the communities and Institutions. They will support and mentor Child Rights Club members, build their awareness on child rights and their skills in group action, be the link between the staff, children and the community and also to act as an important “node” in a “child safety net” keeping a protective watch over the children in their area.  CRF does the follow up and mentoring with the Child Rights Club members, accompany the groups in their various activities and train the children via sessions and trainings.
  4. Creative activities by children for awareness creation among peers & communities
    Child Friendly Dimapur creates opportunities for children in order to utilize their talents in creating awareness, propagating the message of child friendly cities among their peers and communities, and even raise funds for their own groups and their planned activities from adults and well-wishers, through creative ideas and programmes planned and designed by them under the guidance of adults and especially the Child Right’s Facilitator in the communities  and Institutions.
  5. Campaign by Child Rights Club for a key child Right issue in the city
    Child Rights Clubs comes together once a year to run a common campaign in the targeted areas, by selecting one Child related issue that is of concern for the city like sanitation, child labour, road safety, inclusion, environment etc.  This campaign aims to bring together different Child Rights Clubs in the city on a common platform and highlight a specific child related issue or concern of the city through the campaign.
  6. Convention/celebration of Child Rights by Child Rights Clubs with Civil Society Organizations and city leaders
    An annual convention of 1- 2 days of all the Child Rights Clubs and platforms in the city together with civil society organizations and community and city leaders is conducted as a celebration of the year’s work, to build networks and collaboration among the groups in the city, to enhance rapport between the children’s organizations and the city leadership, and to strengthen the children’s movement itself.
  7. Sessions with youth, communities, Civil Society Organization
    Child Friendly Dimapur team mobilizes the Civil Society Organizations, build up various groups in the community (Caring Community Group), conduct sessions and training programmes for the youth, adults, community leaders, Civil Society Organizations and Civil Society Forum towards creating awareness on the right of the children, win their support and commitment towards making Dimapur a child friendly city and capacitate them to advocacy on the rights of the child.
  8. Workshop with Government Officials, departments, experts, Consultants
    Workshop with government departments, officials, community leaders, subject experts and consultants is conducted by Child Friendly Dimapur 4 times a year in order to build rapport and linkages with the city administration and community leaders and explore collaborative way of making the dream of Child Friendly Dimapur a reality.
  9. Workshops with media, business personals, Professionals and parents (Civil Society Organizations)
    Child Friendly Dimapur organizes workshops with Media, Business men, Professionals, Parents and Caring Community Group Leaders every year in order to strengthen the relationship and work more effectively in collaboration with different CSOs as they are the important stakeholders of Child Friendly Dimapur which gives visibility as well as the concrete support it needs to bring about the required levels of awareness and commitment from the citizens in general.
  10. Meetings with Civil Society Forum
    Civil Society Forum (CSF) is an alliance of organizations engaged in child rights and related issues, prominent individuals, activists, community leaders, representatives of young people, caring community groups, parents, teachers, advocates, retired officers and political leaders, professionals, media, various service providers who come together under the banner of the child friendly city with an objective to raise awareness, win the support and build a network of civil society members, leaders and organizations in the city.
    Child Friendly Dimapur organizes meeting for this forum at least once every quarter to monitor the overall progress of Child Friendly Dimapur and to build consensus on the key policies, strategies and action plans towards an effective implementation of the programme to make Dimapur a child friendly city.
  11. Creative activities by youth groups/clubs for awareness creation of peers & communities
    Child Friendly Dimapur organize programs for the youth in the communities and Institutions by
    building their capacities, engaging them in creating awareness and become involved citizens. This platform provides an opportunity for the youth to utilize their talents in propagating the message of child friendly cities among their peers and communities, and even raise funds from adults and well-wishers, through creative ideas and programmes. These funds are further invested in promoting the cause of the child friendly city.
  12. Campaign by youth/ Civil Society Organizations for key Child Rights issues in the city
    Youth Groups and Civil Society Organizations come together every year to conduct a common campaign in the targeted areas on a particular Child related issues that is of concern for the city.
    The objective of the campaign is to bring together different groups in the city on a common platform, and highlight specific Child Related issue or concern of the city.
  13. Children led sample – surveys of selected Child Rights issues & programmes
    Child Friendly Dimapur carries out a survey which is initiated by Children’s and youth groups for assessing government programmes and schemes that relate to child rights and the general status of key child rights selected by the children. The primary purpose of these “survey” is to create  awareness and capacity building of the children and the youth themselves, while at the same time contributing to a database of the status of child rights in the city.
    The results of the child led survey are presented to the local authorities by the children themselves.  This becomes a powerful occasion for children to present their views – based on ground realities.   The entire work of the children is documented, compiled, analyzed and used for advocacy purposes and for campaigns etc.
